And the kind of trailer park that has things growing on the walls...

In the US, most energy is consumed in industry and transport. We have to get factories to become more energy efficient, and we have to move from gas guzzler SUVs and huge tractor-trailors to more efficient vehicles. Until the US taxes gasoline appropriately (the "carbon tax")and enforces standards on industry, cute energy-efficient housing isn't going to make much of a dent...

Anyway, just a thought. Call me a cynical old energy economist, if you will!

James.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7039960.post-90528143555815528822007-10-26T00:51:00.000-04:002007-10-26T00:51:00.000-04:00Hi, I love your blog! Why don't I use a solar panel to run my pc? because it would fill my room and need some heavy batteries. Oh, yeah, but next year we are having a new technology solar cell and it will cost much less due to mass production. When I heard this first time? maybe same year oilfields were going to dry.
While the nice young people are playing the solar decathlon, millions and millions of people are rushing from poor agriculture to a life in town, and their towns are growing like ours, home far from job and school. Guys in Asia, Russia and Africa are starving for a car. In ten years the world will enjoy a billion more cars. But their tanks are going to be filled with clean bio-fuel. and the drivers will starve for lack of bio-food. So? Get on your bike, green gal, use a Venetian hand-fan. And be optimistic, when the oil is over, we will use the heads of the missiles in store, either to kill our energy wasting neighbour or to build nuclear energy plants. In the end let me quote the people who live in my same building, when I push for solar pamels, -And how much the governement would give us for installing the fucking expensive big thing?-
Oh, yeah, it's because new houses should be build with solar panels, drop old ones. Should I bomb my nice little apartment to scraps, ask for a subprime mortgage and go living in a solar decathlon hut ?
Somebody gives me a sip a rhum.John Gerard Sapodillahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01960580577879870217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7039960.post-64225185147264727052007-10-13T10:53:00.000-04:002007-10-13T10:53:00.000-04:00Wow, you're really into this :)-AmmoWow, you're really into this :)
-AmmoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
